GRANNY’S GYPSY MAGICK
Now that you
have experienced the power of the Tarot, are you ready to explore the
fantastical world of magick? Leave your old life behind in favor of a
new cosmic awareness. Once you learn how to read the signs you will never
want to go back. You will see magick at work all around you and use it
to achieve your goals. You may already be practicing magick without realizing
it. THE POWER LIES WITHIN YOU.
This is what Granny’s Gypsy Magick is all about.
My magickal gypsy witch name is Soror Mystica which means ‘mystical
sister’ and harkens back to the witches known as The Sisters of
the Mystic Rose (the Mystic Rose is another name for the Virgin Mary).
The Mystic Rose was an ancient cult of magickal women devoted to the caretaking
of the abused, maimed and abandoned. They were Amazons who specialized
in the mystical arts. For those astrologically-minded, I am Sagittarius
the Archer born on the Winter Solstice Eve with Gemini rising and my moon
in Aries, right on the cusp of Capricorn.
I traced my maternal heritage to over 100 years of authentic gypsy magick
and discovered my roots in old Transylvania, in Ober Metzenseifen and
Uber Metzenseifen, a village both in and at the base of the Carpathian
Mountains about a hundred miles away from Dracula’s castle. This
explained my preoccupation with Dracula. The family name of Schuerger
means ‘dances with the devil’. I also uncovered that in each
generation there were fortunetellers, either readers of the Tarot or of
the tea leaves. In fact, if there was no woman in the family who prophesied,
the men married one.
On the paternal side I found 86 years of funeral home directors. Caretakers
of the dead. On dad’s side was the dead, on mom’s side the
undead. The family name of Ziehm means ‘world fame and land glory’
which is borne out by the international healthcare equipment manufacturer,
Ziehm Instrumentarium, located in Helsinki, Finland. No surprise there.
I researched the Norse mythology of my father’s side and found the
German Viking tradition of naming all my ancestors by their proper name
in the proper order to assume their power. I also discovered my great
great great grandfather from Stettin, Germany (now Szczecin, Poland) was
my namesake. My birth name means ‘Christian’ and that was
his name.
The true origin of the Ziehm name, however, is quite ancient, predating
the birth of Christ by many centuries. It was mainly introduced into the
different Christian countries by the Knights Templar crusaders of the
12th century on their return from their many attempts to free the Holy
Land from the Muslims. The name Ziehm derives from the biblical and Hebrew
personal name Shimon, and in many vernacular versions of the Old Testament
the name is usually rendered as Simeon or Simon. Simon Magus (Simon the
Magician) of the 1st century was a Samaritan sorcerer. According to The
Bible he became a commanding personality in Samaria through his wizardry.
