A SAMPLE READING

The querent (the client) had had an affair with a man who two therapists had confirmed was a sexual predator. Fortunately, she was still with her husband but she was suffering from guilt and a victim complex.

Before I had finished laying down the cards, four of the Major Arcana popped up. Whenever four or more of the major cards of the Tarot deck come up the reader must extract all of the Major Arcana cards, of which there are 22, and use only them for the reading. This indicates a time of great transition when guidance of a higher spiritual sort is needed.

The first thing I told her was that she should read The Soul’s Code by James Hillman to deal with her grief at her mistake. This book tells you that you already know what you will face in your life. Before you come into a body to be born, you are given a preview of the life of that body – its environment, the parents and family and friends that you’d have, and all the events of that life, both good and bad events. You are given a choice and you make that choice based on whether all these thing will or will not allow you to achieve your ultimate destiny. Which means you already know that you can overcome whatever comes your way. The Soul’s Code helps you to decipher all the elements of your life to aid you in identifying and achieving your ultimate destiny.


	The Sun This outlines the current situation.
Yes, there is a message for you in all of this. You were right, you are missing something in your life but not what you thought it was. You have reached the point in your life where you are no longer concerned about how to pay the mortgage, the car loans and the credit card balances. These are the day-to-day concerns of young people just starting out. You have the confidence of the middle ages and know how to get gainful employment – you now have more time to contemplate life and its meaning to you. It is time for you to work on achieving your ultimate destiny. For this you must look to the ‘spiritual’.
The Wheel of Fortune
This card represents the obstacles or helpmates on your path. Things are going to continue to be rocky for you for a while until you develop a few goals. It is during this time in life when one figures out what their ultimate destiny really is and if they don't pursue it, they are unhappy for the rest of their lives.

	The Star This is the basis of the situation.
You have created chaos and mayhem in your life and the lives of those around you. The Star represents the Muses, the goddesses of artistic inspiration. You need to get in touch with your Muse. Are there any arts and crafts you used to do that you enjoyed? Or are there any projects you have been wanting to do but just haven't got around to? Now is the time to get artistic. You need not only a diversion but something that makes you feel good and gives you a feeling of accomplishment. Yes, you are not just an agent of destruction - you CAN make something that is beautiful.

Death This is the past.
This card represents the painful situation you experienced and it indicates the transformation you went through. You have experienced the hard knocks of life and survived. Be thankful for what you have and move on.

	Temperance This is what you should focus on.
	It’s time for a spell. A spell is nothing more than a prayer — you are asking for something that you want the cosmos, God, to grant you. Start off with something simple. Every day say ‘Bless me today, o’ Lord. Thank you.’

The Lovers This is the immediate future (six weeks to six months).
As you delve into the spiritual, you will start to see the many different kinds of soul mates that you have – in marriage, at work, with friends, with family. You will start to meet new people who are in different phases of their journey through life who can help you, if only to give you what seems to be a tidbit of advice but turns out to be gargantuan to your mission in life. It is time for you to read Ask Your Guides by Sonya Choquette. This is a highly inspirational book that tells you all about your guardian angels and spirit guides, how to recognize them and how to interact with them. You are not alone.

	The Moon This is you.
There are so many things about yourself that you do not know! By getting into a new track of thinking, these things will come to the surface and you will be able to accomplish tasks and goals you had never even thought of before! You mentioned that you had read The Secret. That is a good start. Something else that is fun is to ‘read the signs’. There is no such thing as a coincidence – everything has meaning. The easiest way to read the signs is to pay attention to any animals that suddenly appear in your life. For example, I was having a smoke in the garage and a skunk ambled over the driveway from my house to the neighbor’s. There were four deer on the tree lawn of a house in the middle of a residential neighborhood. And, a hawk flew right in front of the windshield of my car. I immediately grabbed my copy of AnimalSpeak by Ted Andrews and looked up the meanings of these animals.

	The Devil This is what others think about you and your situation. You played with fire and got burnt. Live and learn. What others think is ‘been there, done that.’ Don’t worry about what others say.

The Hermit Your hopes and your fears.
It’s time to squirrel yourself away and start reading some self-help books. You will find your strength and your identity. In addition to the book titles that I have given you, take a trip to the library (not the bookstore) and sift through the shelves. If you see a book sticking out from the rest, take a look at it. This is great fun! I do it all the time. I have found some interesting reads each time. Think of it as an adventure!

The High Priestess The outcome.
The High Priestess is all about INTUITION, which is something you are about to start using again and more fully. You will need to learn to trust yourself again and this is no easy task. What you need are the crystals. Turquoise and Amber are the stones of The High Priestess because they are the most effective in warding off The Evil Eye and negative influences. Go to the library and get a book on crystals and their meanings (The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall is excellent). Research the crystals you already own – birthstone jewelry, etc. – and see why you have them and how they’re supposed to help you. Then read the book for crystals that do what you want to do. And wear those crystals! You have them for a reason.

	‘Surprise’ card If you are given only one thought to focus on, this is it.
This is the card of St. Christopher and it couldn’t be a more perfect card to end your reading with. This card is letting you know that you are already on your journey to achieving your ultimate destiny and have a guardian angel watching over you and protecting you. You can find out the name of your guardian angel by simply asking for it. The first name that comes to your mind is the name of your angel.
